Project Services
Practical help for remote projects — from the planning side.
BackcountryOS Project Services exist for one reason: remote projects succeed or fail before the first material order. These services put an experienced builder’s judgment on your project early, when changes are cheap and options are open.
Hands-on services are Alaska-focused. “Available now” means available for consultation and engagement — not that every service can be performed immediately in every location. Services involving third parties (contractor identification, procurement coordination) remain subject to project scope and applicable requirements. Nothing on this page is a fixed-price package, and construction availability is never guaranteed online — capacity and licensing are confirmed project by project.
BackcountryOS is a founder-led practice, not a staffed statewide construction organization. What you get is the founder’s experience applied to your project, and honest coordination with the local people who do the work.
Available now — planning & coordination
Remote Site Feasibility
Can this property actually support what you want to build? Access, seasonality, buildability, and the honest constraints — before you buy, or before you commit to a design.
Preliminary Construction Budgeting
A budget built on remote reality: freight, seasonality, and mobilization included — not town prices with a markup guess.
Transportation & Logistics Planning
How everything gets there: boat, sled, air, or road where it exists. Staging, sequencing of deliveries, and the cost of each option.
Seasonal Construction Scheduling
A schedule built around freeze-up, break-up, daylight, and weather windows — the calendar remote work actually runs on.
Material Procurement Coordination
Ordering the right materials, in the right order, batched for the freight that exists. The goal: nobody idle at a remote site waiting on a part. Subject to project scope.
Local Contractor Identification
Finding and vetting the people who can actually do the work in that area — and knowing the questions that separate experience from talk. Subject to project scope and applicable requirements.
Introductory pilot services — start here
Three introductory pilot services to start with, from a free screening to a preliminary plan. Comprehensive feasibility studies, detailed planning, and construction services are scoped individually.
Property Reality Check
A preliminary, software-generated screening of one remote property: mapped access, logistics context, climate, and utilities — with the limitations stated honestly and a checklist of what to verify before you commit. Generated from public data; reviewed before it’s sent.
Project Feasibility Snapshot
The Reality Check plus a builder’s professional review: the primary obstacles on your property, your preliminary options, and a concise written summary of what to do next.
Preliminary Execution Blueprint
A preliminary plan for actually executing: access and logistics strategy, conceptual scope, broad budget considerations, sequencing priorities, and an ordered action plan.
By individual evaluation — execution
Construction Management
On-the-ground management of a remote build. Taken on selectively, based on fit, timing, and capacity.
Project Delivery
Full delivery of a remote project. Evaluated case by case; Alaska-focused; never promised before a real conversation about scope, licensing, and schedule.
How it starts
Every engagement starts with the Start Your Project intake — ten minutes of the right questions. You hear back with an honest read: what I can help with, what the next step is, and what it would take. If it’s not a fit, I’ll say that too.
